Tribute to the martyrs on Martyrdom Day

This date, March 23, has a great significance for Indians and Indian freedom struggle. This day, on 1931, three brave heroes of this soil, Saheed Shivaram Rajguru, Saheed Sukhdev Thapar and Saheed Bhagat Singh, were hanged for life for fighting against the British colonialism. On this day, we remember all the fearless fighters who sacrificed their lives so that we can live freely today. We offer our gratitude to them on Martyrdom Day.

A brief detail about the trio.


Shivaram Rajguru :

* Born in Khed at Poona District in 1906.
* Joined Hindustan Socialist Republican Army and worked under the pseudonym of Raghunath.
* Had fearless spirit and indomitable courage.
* Source of inspiration: Sivaji

Sukhdev Thapar:

* Born in Lyallpur ( now in Pak)
* Member of 'Revolutionary Party of India'.
* Set up a small factory to manufacture bomb
* Played a key role in killing Asst. comm of Police Saunders to take revenge of the death of Lala Lajpat Ray.

Bhagat Singh:

* Born in Layalpur on 27 Sept. 1907.
* Was a member of the youth organization Noujawan Bharat Sabha
* He went to this spot to collect soil from the park of Jalianwala (bagh) in his lunch box, sanctified by the blood of the innocent and kept it as a memento for life.
* On 8th April 1929 he along with his associates threw bomb in the Delhi Central Assembly.
